Techniques: Jigging & Popping
Jigging is an aggressive vertical technique using metal lures to trigger deep predators — ideal for Dogtooth, Amberjack, Groupers, GTs. Knowledge, cadence and lure color matter (blue, pink, orange, silver; glow >100 m).
Recommended combos: Smith AMJ-S54 EX + Shimano Stella 20000 SW / Daiwa Saltiga 6500 (heavy). Lighter: Stella 10000 SW / Saltiga 4500. Brands: Zenaq, Jigging Master, Fisherman. Bring 35–40 jigs for 7 days. Reinforced trebles: Owner ST66/ST76TN, Shout Treble Curve, BKK.
Popping targets surface predators (GTs 15–60+ kg, big Yellowfin). Use 10–14 kg of drag to avoid getting reefed.
