Yellowfin Tuna in the Seychelles

Targeting Yellowfin Tuna is possible through trolling with lures or bait, casting poppers, or jigging near feeding schools. Their incredible fighting spirit and the breathtaking scenery of the Seychelles make Yellowfin Tuna fishing an unforgettable experience for any sport fishing enthusiast.

The Yellowfin Tuna is one of the most sought-after pelagic species in the tropical waters of the Seychelles. Recognized by its streamlined body, metallic blue back, silver belly, and bright yellow fins, this powerful fish can reach impressive sizes, often exceeding 1.5 meters and 70 kilograms. Its strength, speed, and stamina make it a true challenge for anglers.

Yellowfin Tuna are renowned for their explosive strikes and long, sustained runs, testing both the skill and endurance of the fisherman. They are typically found in deep offshore waters, often near schools of baitfish, along current lines, and around floating debris or fish aggregating devices (FADs). In the Seychelles, prime fishing grounds for Yellowfin Tuna include areas around Mahé, Praslin, La Digue, and the remote outer islands.
